9-11-01 Typographic Poster Tribute

This piece was a submission for a college project while I attended SSU. The project was to create a mainly typographic poster with minimal graphic elements added to execute a socially or historically significant event from the past twenty five years. I chose one of the biggest events I could remember, and one that I remember vividly, September 11, 2001.
I found an image of the New York skyline before the twin towers fell and converted it into a vector image to better tie in with the (vector) text so there wouldn’t be a disconnect between the two elements. I also chose a text that mimicked the vector shapes as closely as possible. I full justified the text to better keep the structure’s shape more prominent. The content of the text is, fittingly, the speech given that evening by the President of the United States (at the time), George W. Bush.
