OURDOTS Community NFT Collection

OURDOTS Community NFTs
Limited edition 1/1 NFT collection on OpenSea minted with Polygon

Created by @MxMnr

In October 2021, a group of 16 strangers connected online around the idea of group-purchasing 2128, "That doesn't sound too good" from artist, Damien Hirst's first NFT art collection, The Currency on HENI.com

The objective of the project was to demonstrate the power of blockchain ownership by making the purchased artwork available to a larger community of collectors who normally wouldn't be able to afford such a piece through fractionalized ownership.

Ultimately we successfully completed a PartyBid purchase of the NFT at a price of over 12ETH with a total of 60 unique participating community contributors/owners.

Because we were purchasing a piece consisting of hundreds of colorful dots we called the community token (which was distributed to every fractional owner), $OURDOTS.

🖼 Community Participation NFTs

The OURDOTS NFTs featured here were created to recognize the unique contribution of each individual community contributor who came together to make the project a success.

To create the collection, I manually extracted each unique color one-by-one from the original art piece. Next I used Adobe Illustrator to generate a corresponding vector color "swatch" for each of the 60 individual community members. Each member received a unique color and hex code.

The result was a collection of 60 totally unique 1 of 1 artworks, all based on the original piece created by Damien Hirst.
