Painted Illusion: "Invisible Palm"

This was a unique project that I took on that would combine super realistic painting to achieve a surrealistic piece. The location was Ft. Lauderdale beach, where with the use of a camera and tripod, selected a tree that I would through painting, chop in half and suspend. After wrapping a thin platic sheet around the trunk, I began painting the background in the foreground. The issue at hand was to flatten a three dimensional object using only tones. Areas that were darker would have to be painted lighter, ect. Working with the changing sky because of the sunset was difficult but after working for about 20 min, revisiting the camera every couple so, I stretched the pastic wrapping to lose all the wrinkling to achieve the final result. Three different light sources were also added for the final pic to decrease the apprerance of the wrinkles further.
