Ahoy there!
A few years back I worked long hours on the very first image in my then-new Moleskine.
It was a busy and (hopefully) funny pirate themed sketch.
I always wanted to create a finished illustration out of it so in recent weeks I did just that.
I turned the sketch into a 3D poster. 3 of them to be precise
As a challenge I decided to follow the original composition as closely as possible.
And I also created two other styles - a monochrome and a toon shaded one.
Here are the wires and some close-ups for those interested.
As a last bit here's a shading test for the belt buckle of the pirate bird
