Arree Chung is an award-winning author and illustrator who has been on a pursuit to make things that people love and throughout his career, his inner voice constantly reminded him of his creativity and curiosity. After leaving Pixar and joining Art Center he discovered his love for picture books and in 2016, he founded Storyteller Academy with the pursuit to share his knowledge of the art-making picture books.
Arree’s passion led him to create several notable children's books earning him quite the reputation as a children's book author and illustrator. So when Arree asked us to create an identity for his personal brand, we couldn’t help but get excited and channeled our inner child. We knew the logo had to be playful to match Arree’s big kid's personality while being sophisticated enough to gain the trust of adults.
We created a playful logo inspired by the characters from Arree’s award-winning book, Mixed: A Colorful Story. The letters in the logo are bold and rounded to create a sense of adventure while emphasizing the childlike aspects of the brand. We choose bright red as the primary color to communicate excitement, energy, and passion. It created familiarity while remaining distinct and endearing.
