CVE - THE CIRCLE RE-BRAND PROMO COVER DESIGN

The Novel ‘The Circle’ is a story about a company that is the center of all life. The Circle gathers information on peoples lives by stalking social media accounts to sell to companies for marketing. There isn’t anything the circle doesn't know about you and if there is, it is the job for like people like Mae, the protagonist to find it. Reading this passage from the novel, it made me feel creeped out and scared. It made me feel like people are watching me right now. This is because there is a hidden dark and mysterious aspect behind the company, which are well hidden by the glamorous image they project, similar to the Google HQ. This creepy eerie aesthetic is what I want to incorporate in this project to produce a cover re-design for the book, while also accompanying the high tech and colourful parts of the company.
This image is of the three hands of The Wise Men (the founders of The Circle); Ty, Bailey, and Stenton coming together and physically creating ‘the circle’. Each of the men played a big part in creating the company and without one another. The Circle would cease to exist, not only visually in this image but physically in the book too because without one of them as they each specialised in different areas. This is because each of the men helped balance out each others differences and helped keep the company successful. The red and blue colouring is symbolic to the fun nature of the company, where the dark tones make reference to the dark and mysterious side to the company. The circular burn and the faint text overlay are symbolic visuals to symbolise the company and the circular building it resides in as well as reading into peoples lives.
