The Starship system is a fully reusable, two‑stage‑to‑orbit super heavy‑lift launch vehicle under development by SpaceX. The system is composed of a booster stage, named Super Heavy, and a second stage, also referred to as "Starship"
The booster stage Super Heavy is expected to be 72 m (236 ft) long and 9 m (30 ft) in diameter. It is to be constructed of stainless steel tanks and structure, holding subcooled liquid methane and liquid oxygen (CH4/LOX) propellants, powered by 28 Raptor rocket engines
The Super Heavy external design changed throughout 2019/2020 as the detailed design was iterated and the Raptor engines were tested and achieved higher power levels.
