Meridian Development Corporation
One of my first projects at Rizen Creative involved a rebrand and a cohesive marketing effort of one the fastest growing cities in the nation. The city leaders of Meridian, Idaho wanted to focus on renewal and redevelopment as a means to drive economic growth and expansion of its historic downtown district.

The first task was to develop a logo that would serve as a brand identifier in all marketing efforts, defining Meridian's Historic Downtown district. Looking at the city's past and historic buildings would inform the direction taken, beginning with research and many, many sketches.
The decided direction was a sketch of the old grain elevator prominently located next to city hall and at the heart of Meridian's historic district. This sketch was then refined, redrawn, digitized, and remained relatively unchanged in its final form.
Once approved, the idea of revitalizing the central hub of downtown with signage declaring it as the historic district, began to gain traction. The clients wondered what more historic buildings from around town might look like in the logo lockup. The old Modern Woodmen of America and Post Office buildings were then added.
In the end all three designs were fabricated and unveiled at event with many city officials in attendance, including the mayor.
