Crime Surge Presents New Security Challenges
The United Kingdom has recently seen an uplift in the crime surge levels that has ultimately put the security forces to new challenges. There is a need for improving the system by regulating new rules and solutions to combat the worsening situation of crimes in the country. Businesses and commercial areas were always on the radar of burglars and local criminals whether it is about money theft or data theft. Crime levels were at the lowest after 1981 according to The British Crime Survey. The crime rate increased again in 1995 after which, it dropped again in 2016. The latest crime figures reveal that burglary has increased by 7.8% in the North West, and by 17% in the Greater Manchester. However, these are not the only challenges security forces are facing. Other crimes are becoming a major concern as well.
Crimes That Are Posing More Challenges

The type of crimes, and the way criminals execute those crimes have changed a lot during the years. However, the rapid upgrade in the manner of crimes has given the UK security system a lot to reconsider their safety measures.

Knife Crimes

According to the lasts numbers of ONS, an increase of 7% was recorded in crimes that involved knives or some sharp objects in 2019. The number of criminals who used these methods was reduced to 20%, yet the overall crime rate for knife crimes was at its highest with a 46% increase since 2011. Although other violent crimes have seen a visible fall during the years in the UK, knife crimes are still emerging on regular basis, making it a hard to control issue.

Organized Crimes

When we say that criminals have become less violent, it means they have got smarter means to have things their way. No matter how advance we may make our security systems by including CCTVs, surveillance cameras, night vision cameras, motion sensor alarm, and fire alarms in Manchester, criminals will upgrade their tactics accordingly. The more organized we are becoming in securing ourselves, the more organized criminals are becoming in executing their crimes.
Cyber Crimes

Cybercrimes are increasingly becoming a major concern as data theft and hacking are the new way of theft. Cybercrimes have not only affected businesses and organizations of large scale by hacking their accounts and websites, but it is also used for blackmailing people and using them for criminal purposes. These crimes are done with such precision and foolproof planning that locating these criminals become a hectic and lengthy task.

What Needs To Be Done

The government of UK has recognized the gravity of this issue, but action must be taken fast in the shape of a long-term reform that offers a solution of different type of crimes according to their severity. Along with territorial police forces, cyber police and advanced security technology is needed to be reinforced in every residential and commercial sector so that monitoring will be easier. A new committee should be made to deal with the ongoing crimes and provide promising recommendations to tackle them.
