Each year, Mecum Auctions tours the country with the latest Dodge Challenger model as part of an ongoing partnership between the brands. For the 2019/2020 tour, I was tasked with creating unique, one-off vinyl graphics to tie-back back the newest model to its legendary roots. A rare factory option in 1969 and 1970 saw the use of floral patterns on both the exterior and interior of their cars. Through the use of a modernized floral design, handlettered window stickers, a Mecum-branded version of the classic “hockey stick” stripes and more, I was able to connect the past with the present. The Mecum Mod Top made appearances not only at each of the company’s auctions around the country, but also events like SEMA, MCACN, and more.
