This is Issue 1 of Volume 33 for Snowboarder Magazine. The new volume starts off with the POC issue. This 145 page book is dedicated to the people of color within the Snowboarding Industry, athletes and industry people. This has proven to be the most shared and popular issue of Snowboarder Magazines history. With the first black pro snowboarder Russell Winfield to be on the cover this proves to be an eye opener to all people in the industry and outside to be inclusive and more aware of the people within the sport to promote the entire scene. We had the idea of an early 90s look. Tech fonts and rave looking aesthetics using grids and a lot of photo cutouts as graphics for the entire volume. (See below)
Of course we went with large action photos and compelling portrait photography for the cover with help from the First Black Snowboard Photographer Stan Evans. His portfolio opener and a few spreads are featured below.
We made over 100+ Instagram posts to promote the issue. Using photos and the art direction look from the mag. We got the brands involved and made custom social posts for the brands to promote the issue as well. Here are a few examples below.
