The aim for this scan was to us the AR to scan a smaller object with intricate parts, as prior to this I was only looking at bigger objects. I effectively want to see how in the future I can create environments by scanning individual smaller and larger objects.
I used a smaller object with more detail to see how again I could push the app and iPhone camera. This one required the most cleaning up, as I had to remove the coke can the polaroid was sitting on, and the desk surface that was being picked up. I wanted this to be a more clean model so I spent a bit of time cleaning up in meshlab. As you can see the writing on the front of camera is blurred which is something I couldn't figure out how to clean up. The camera has picked up the texture in the blue plastic on the body as well as lenses which I didn't think it it would. I did mess up the back part of the camera where I struggled to reach when scanning the object, I am hoping to explore blender and other programs which will allow me to better edit the surfaces and textures for next assignment.
Another screenshot of the scan in meshlab. I had trouble when uploading to sketchfab as it makes viewing the objects confusing and I couldn't get a front view.
For this version of the scan I decided to leave the coke can in as I liked the way it formed a sculpture still life. I also like the way the coke can is severed at the top to make the camera feel like it's going to fall. This idea of scale and balance is funny to me and something I would like to play with in the future.
