The DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families. They came to us asking for a t-shirt graphic and flyer to help promote their annual car show event.
Being tasked with this project I looked at their previous designs that usually included a 1-color screen and a US flag included in the design. I convinced the client to go with a 2-color screen option in order to show how one can use positive and negative space to create the body and other components of the car using the shirt color as the 3rd color option. I also tried to figure out how best to tie in the US flag and used Ed Roth's car characterization that is so well-known in the car community and used the tire smoke to illustrate the stars and stripes as an added element to the car. Also, the vehicle that was a chosen was a 1949 Willy's Gasser which is iconic car among the hot rod community. Overall, it was a success and the clients absolutely loved the design.
