A commissioned piece for The Milwaukee Film Festival. I made this digital work for a sticker based on the film "Boxeadora". The film follows Namibia, a Cuban woman who has been training in secret as a boxer for five years, hoping the government would lift its ban. Now 38, she only has two years left of boxing eligibility.
I was inspired by a scene in the film where she is praying for her shot that she so clearly deserves. She did all of the hard work, but now it's all in God's hands. I made a carving in linoleum and printed it. I then manipulated the print digitally in Photoshop. The sticker was given away to film goers after the screening.
