For this open ended type project for my typography class, I wanted to make an analog and digital mixed piece related to the eroding of our current democracy. I was talking to my dad and he was talking about pouring concrete on a hot day at his construction working job. It got me to thinking about concrete as a material, a “concrete” material for an abstract thought of “democracy.” I used a silicon mold to make 3” concrete monotype/block letterforms. I photographed the word democracy. I manually edited the photo in photoshop and adjusted kerning. The photo was then brought into Rough Animator for iPad. I made a small frame by frame animation overlaying there photo. 

 

I also created a poster for a get out the vote organization with the assets.
