Contrarianism

Contrarianism is the practice of approaching problems and brainstorming new ideas by purposely thinking against the grain. It takes courage to consider opposing perspectives.    


Contrarians understand that the risks they take may be unpopular. Given the discomfort and ambiguities that accompany change, this is not surprising. Contrarians are willing to manage (if not embrace) the uncertainties and risks inherent with thinking against the grain.
