Electric Love: Greeting Card Design & Animation
The original goal of this project was to create a Valentine’s Day card. After some exploration, I kept pushing the piece until I also created an animated GIF version that mimics the look of a neon sign. This lends itself to the representational wording on the card, “Our Love is Electric”.

Process Breakdown
I started with a basic sketch (left) in Adobe Fresco on my iPad. Once I had my sketch done I moved to Adobe Illustrator (right) to vectorize the basic outline of my work.
From Adobe Illustrator, I moved to Photoshop. This was so I could add significant blur to the outline of my vectors. The blur would give the illusion of the glow that is seen given off by neon signage. I ended up doing this two times.
Once on a skeleton version of the vectorized sketch, and again on a weighted version of the sketch.
This makes for a fun Valentine’s Day card and is currently available for licensing. Feel free to reach out to me with any licensing opportunities for products and cards.
Using the 3.0 update from Adobe Fresco, I was able to incorporate frame-by-frame animation into this piece. To make the lettering look more like a neon sign, I used a brick background from Adobe Stock. After that, I exported it as a GIF file.
